Athletes of L&LS have walked away with new friends, amazing accomplishments and the sense that they did something even more important than getting in good shape. In exchange for training and support, you help raise money towards cures for blood cancers like leukemia — the No. 1 disease killer of children — lymphoma and myeloma.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Georgia Chapter kicked off the state’s Team In Training (TNT) program in 1992. Fifteen runners ran the New York City Marathon that year and raised $32,000. Since then, our chapter has trained thousands of athletes at numerous endurance sports events nationwide and outside our country’s borders. Over the last 5 years, Georgia’s TNT program has raised more than $12.3 million towards the fight against blood cancer.
Our chapter’s TNT program offers sports training programs for marathons, half-marathons, triathlons, century bike rides and hiking. We train year round with new seasons kicking off in January, May, August and November.
Last year, Team In Training raised more than $43,000 through race donations and participant fundraising as the official charity of the Publix Savannah Women’s Half & 5K. TNT had 42 team members for the Publix Savannah Women’s Half & 5K in 2015.
